1) Scholium Project

Naucratis Lost Slough Vineyard Verdelho, 2006…..$299 per case       

Varietal/Vineyard: 100% Verdelho / Lost Slough Vineyard, Sacramento Delta, California

Quick Facts: High acid, crisp and fresh. No wood, No Malo.  426 cases

Abe Schoener is a maverick. Much like his friend and mentor, John Kongsgaard, Abe looks at vineyards and winemaking from an incredibly creative and interesting point of view. His non-interventionist techniques yield some of the most amazing and intriguing wines to emerge from California. Check out Abe’s principles at scholiumwines.com. 2) Nicholson Ranch

Chardonnay Estate, 2004…..$299 per case  

Varietal/Vineyard: 100% Chardonnay / Nicholson Ranch Estate, Carneros, Sonoma Valley

Winemaker: Thomas Brown (Turley, Tor, Schrader, Outpost, Bisou, Tofanelli)

Quick Facts: The extremely talented Thomas Brown creates these Chardonnay offerings from estate fruit (100% Dijon Clones), utilizing indigenous yeasts, full gravity flow, and minimal interventional techniques.  About 30% new French Oak. 780 cases

 

3) Hestan Vineyards

Meyer Cabernet Sauvignon, 2004…..$540 per case  

Varietal/Vineyard: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon / Hestan Vineyard, Napa Valley

Winemaker: Mark Herold (Merus, Buccella, Harris) 

Quik Facts: The ‘second’ wine of Hestan, this Cabernet is certainly at the quality level of a flagship wine, displaying huge concentration and purity. 18 months in French Oak. 50% new.  3315 cases.

 

4) Beau Vigne

‘Juliet’ Cabernet Sauvignon, 2005…..$499 per case      

Varietal/Vineyard: 96% Cab Sauv, 2% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec / Estate Vineyard, Stag’s Leap Winemaker: Dave Phinney (Orin Swift, Stanton)

Quick Facts: Dave makes this incredible Cabernet Sauvignon from Ed and Trish Snider’s vineyard high above Stag’s Leap. Tiny berries, the size of blueberries, give Beau Vigne exceptional size, weight and complexity. 470 cases

          

5) B. Wise Vineyards

Brion, 2003 …..$720 per case

Varietal/Vineyard: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot / Coomsville, Napa Valley

Winemaker: Massimo and Mario Monticelli

Quick Facts: The Cabernet comes for the ‘Bennet 1st Street Vineyard in Coomsville (fruit source for such wines as Merus and Kobalt). The Merlot come from the legendary Caldwell vineyard. Awesome wine. 211 cases

 

6) Juslyn Vineyards        

Vineyard Select Cabernet Sauvignon 2002…..$799 per case    

Varietal/Vineyard: 77% Cabernet Sauvignon / To Kalon, Napa / 21% Merlot, 2% Cab Franc /

Spring Mountain

Winemaker: Craig MacLean/David Ramey

Quick Facts: Carolyn and Perry Butler planted their estate in 1997 on Spring Mountain and have been sourcing high quality grapes from several of Andy Beckstoffer's top Napa Valley vineyards.
